The Process

January 12, 2009

I began working on a small painting today, which is apart of a series. I’m taking some drawings I created last year and applying paint. While some images incorporate hearts, love is not the theme. My only goal is to use the same colors (dominate colors include: red, blue, gray, and green), the same size, same frames, and same color of paper.

Above is the digital image I’m using as my reference

Because I’m working with old drawings, I don’t have the patience to re draw them.

So, this is the poor-girl’s  lightbox, which can only be used  during daylight hours. The steps in creating this device is easy. Place the image on a window. Then, stick tape to the paper to hold it in place. Third, place a new sheet of paper over image and begin to trace the image.

Tracing was a success!

What I’ve got so far.

I’m a little apprehensive about outlining the image with black ink. Sometimes, when I screw up, it can be very unforgiving.
