Hand Injury and Notes

February 28, 2008

Currently, my right hand is in commission. My self-diagnosis says it might be carpal tunnel or something like it. I won’t know the real problem ’til my doctor’s appointment. So, because I don’t want to use my hand I won’t be drawing. And because I’m not drawing, I’m unable to provide posts with new drawings. I’m gonna continue to post new entries, but the content may vary. I’ll keep it art related.

Here are some notes from a class I took in college called Capstone Presentation. The focus of the class was to prep us, the art students, for the real world. We learned how to put together a portfolio, we read mind-blowing books like Taking The Leap by Cay Lang, we participated in group activities (during these group activities we just made lists of different careers we could obtain with our degrees), and we listened to presentations by former students who “made it”. As a student studying graphic design, the class taught me absolutely nothing. The class had a strong emphasis on fine art, and how to create portfolios to submit to galleries. That is why I spent my time in class doodling and making list of things to do.

Often, when concentrating on my doodles and listening to a lecture, my friend wrote me notes. It may be hard to read, but these were the messages he wrote on the sheet of paper above :

THERE IS 2 TIMES AS MANY GIRLS AS GUYS

I HAVE TO PEE BAD

HOLY CALAMITY

THIS IS SO RELATIVE

I crossed out the word “relative” and wrote “a waste of my time”

Again, his messages on this paper are:

THAT’S VERY HIP HOP

THIS IS GOING TO BE HARD FOR SOME…SCHOOL AND WORK
