Vacation = Work
February 14, 2008
I didn’t get a chance to draw today, so I have no new drawing to post. Since 7 AM, I’ve been screen printing, with the exception of going out to get some groceries and meeting a friend for some coffee.
I’m preparing for an art show in March, and I feel a little under pressuere because I only have 3 prints completed. I was hoping to have at least 15 for the show, but at this rate, I’ll be lucky if I can produce 4. This morning, I woke up with hopes of completing 5 new prints. Unfortunately, the screen-printing process is unpredictable, so I only have 4 half finished ones. I don’t know how many screens I’ve set, stripped, and thrown away. I’ve learned two things with this process: 1. I will not procrastinate for the next show and 2. I will not be screen-printing for the next show. It’s fun, and I do enjoy it (on good days), but I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve cursed and felt like crying today.
Below are some photos from the studio. I apologize for the quality of the photos. Right now, all I have is a Polaroid camera. My digital died a few months ago and I have yet to buy a new one.

A Few Ingredients: Screen, Spatula, and Squeegee.

The 3 prints I have completed. Pathetic. I should have more.

Sometimes, finding an empty space to work is a challenge.

Exposure Unit.
That stack of Vellum, on the right, is evidence of the many screens I have exposed. To bad half of those screens had to be stripped and reset

I can not tell you how many times I’ve had to be stripped and reset. But that is besides the point. How else could vellum be such a sweet erasable medium? Papyrus. Ingredient for Life.
PS…Looks like Work
